Excerpt:
The case of death row prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, now a quarter of a century long, is heading to a climax this Thursday in a hearing before a three-judge panel of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. It is a hearing that could result in a new trial for the Philadelphia journalist and former Black Panther, or possibly in a new date with the executioner.

Bryan will also appeal the Third Circuit’s rejection of another critical issue raised in his defense. McGill explained that this was because Mumia would have "appeal after appeal," and therefore any errors that might have occurred could be corrected.

Excerpt:
Mumia Abu-Jamal rallied thousands of protesters in the U.S. city of Denver last week who were calling for the release of U.S. political prisoners.
In a recorded message for the crowds protesting outside the Democratic National Convention, journalist Abu-Jamal attacked U.S. foreign policy, the protection of "foreign despots" and war for "foreign pipelines".
Abu-Jamal made the recording from his death row prison cell at a time when his 26-year battle for freedom has reached a critical point.

The justices did not comment on their action Monday, which leaves in place a state Supreme Court ruling upholding Abu-Jamal's murder conviction.
